Wednesday Night Progress

Last night I joined the lovely ladies from the Gisborne Quilters Group
I've been going there for a while now and during this time I have watched many of them make those darn little Hexies. Secretly I thought that they must be all slightly mad.
But then....like a contagious cold...you know the type that you pick up not by choice but by pure unluckiness.
Well out of the blue it grabbed me, a pattern that I had found, and I thought was a bit different, that I would love to have a go at....but you guessed it....it had hexagons in it.
So hence last night I started making hexies, and they are actually quite pleasant to make, you sit there and stitch with no thought or complex concentration at all.
Quite soothing actually...this may even become my new form of meditation.
I did say meditation not addiction...
Helen also brought her strip quilt along she has been very busy appliquéing the most gorgeous scene on to it. It just looks so fresh and vibrant.

LOL! I haven't caught the hexi bug (yet). Maybe one day. I do keep looking at the turtle pin cushion by Anni in A Simple Life. Helen's quilt is just lovely.

While I have never gotten the hexie big I do understand the need for mindless handwork. I cannot just sit and watch TV without something to do in my hands, or travel in a car as a passenger on a long trip. I would go mad. Been known to cut up strips of fabric and crotchet them into small fabric bowls just to keep myself busy. What are you making with them?

I enjoy the hexagon making process too. Also, a very portable project. Helen's quilt is looking wonderful.

If I were to ever take up serious quilting I think the hexies just might be for me. I like the idea of working on things a little at a time

Hexies are addicting! Before you know it you will have 1500 in 4 boxes...not that I'm like that :)

I love to patchwork but I hate doing the paper part so I use a fabric glue pen and then get straight on to the joining. The pen was from a site called simply solids. Just transformed my patching experience. jo x
