How was your Friday night?

Mine was actually quite productive....

I managed to do some knitting on a beanie that I have been working on.

and finish off a block for our Under Ground Rail Road quilt.

So overall very productive.

Astronomical Quilt Star Block Challenge.

Now now don't stress....this is not another challenge that I'm begging you to join, but this is one that I and a couple of friends had done.
Quite a while back someone was calling for 9" star blocks to be sent to Texas so that they could be joined up with Astronaut Karen Nybergs block and made into a quilt.
So we thought why not.
Here is our results.

This is my block, I thought that the Stars and sky would suit this theme just perfectly

Here we have Anettes block on the left, Margs block in the middle and mine on the right.

Hopefully these will join up with many others and the quilt will be on display at the 40th Anniversary Quilt Festival Show in Fall in Houston 2014

Another Challenge!

Hello everyone, I do hope that you are all having a wonderful week.

I'm sorry to tempt you all with another challenge.....but here I go anyway.....

maybe you could combine this with the Shirt challenge that I have listed here...The Great Shirt Challenge

 My dear friend Tania from Ollie&T is running this fab idea.

We choose a quilt out of the above book that we want to make,

but it must be kept secret…..

The quilt is to be made over a period of 12 months, with the ‘big unveiling’ in June next year – perhaps a tentative date for the unveiling could be

Saturday 20 June 2015?

I thought this was a good book to use, as they are actually pretty much basic quilts made with basic shapes, and for most of them there is no great level of difficulty for those that don’t have so much experience with piecing.

I also think the quilts in the book lend themselves to being made in any style of fabric, and can be made to a size that suits you.

The idea for this came from a blog I was recently reading by Kim, a lovely and fun lady who writes the Threadheads Unite blog (www.threadheadsunite.blogspot.com).  

And of course, if you want to invite someone else to join in who you think would enjoy our quilt-along, by all means, the more the merrier! Perhaps Kim would like to join us too?  Don’t hesitate to invite any online friends….. we could also have a ‘cyber unveiling’ on the same date!

A Doe a Deer a Female Deer

Who'd think that I would forget to post something that I had made and.........Completed.

Our Gisborne group July challenge was something Chritmassy for Christmas in July.

Our challenges are all due on the last Wednesday of the month.

I had found this adorable woodland deer pattern in one of the Homespun magazines, and thought that it would be just perfect for our July challenge.

Book Cover Challenge

Our little group at Gisborne Quilters has been running a small sewing challenge for those who want to join in each month.

This month was a book cover. Unfortunately there was only 2 of us with our covers on Wednesday night. I'll have to get photos of the other ladies book covers next week for you to see.

This is my book on the left and  Helens on the right.

This is the inside of Helens, she has done a fabulous job decorating the front of the cover with stitching and little buttons and even added a little pocket with pen on the inside.

No pocket on the inside of mine...but I did add a book mark and I do adore the postcard fabric that I picked up.

Christmas Challenge 2010

I have just stumbled across Amanda's Blog where she is busy organising a challenge for Christmas. Basically you make 1 item each month from now until the end of November. So that is 6 items all together. Everyone is encouraged to join in...
