North Pole QAL

The lst Wednesday of each month I'm joining Val and about 7 other wonderful ladies for the
North Pole QAL
The block that I'm working on is Santa in his sleigh with Reindeer.
This block is located at the top of the quilt.
My blocks are made up with mostly scraps. Santas blanket is flannel, trim of his hat and sleeves is made up from wadding to give it that fluffy look, the reindeer are made from suede and corduroy the antlers are made from fuzzy felt that you would normally use to make small teddy bears. The rest of the appliqué is made up with cottons.

Mickie the Elf

Yesterday I actually got some sewing done.
Yay for me.
I have finally reunited Mickie with his head. Poor thing has been sitting around for a while with his head tucked in under his arm. I must admit he looks a lot better now.

So now he is complete with hair, hat, clothes and embellishments and sitting quite happily in my daughters room.
The other sewing I did was quite boring in comparison. Repaired two pairs of shorts and a school bag.

Mandala Challenge 2013 January

This year I have signed up for the Totem Animal Mandala Challenge
I thought that this may keep my right side of the brain working productively and help stop the left side from taking over.
This is just a fun challenge organised by Guadalupe over at Guada's Circle
Each month we will receive a Totem Mandala to paint colour etc we can even add our own personal touches.
Sometimes it's just nice to zone out and create away.
I have added my own special touches to my January Mandala and I have used Markers, Pencils & Paint.

A Little Steampunk

Not much sewing going on at my place at the moment...but hubby will be back at work on Monday so I might be able to get a little done then. We have just been so busy catching up on the gardening and all of those odds and ends that need doing around the home.

Today I did get to spend some time with Darcee my 14 year old son and I was teaching him how to solder. Darcee had a go at making a Steam-punk spider.
This is made from lots of little pieces from old watches and he used a small bulb for the body.
He still needs a little practice with soldering but over all I feel that it turned out pretty well.
and he is happy and I got to spend quality time with him so all in all a great day.

Tuesday Treasures

Joining up today with Melody and friends from The House on the Side of the Hill
for
Tuesday Treasures.
This will be ran once a month if you would like to link up for the January Tuesday Treasures just click here
My treasure for today would have to be my Canon Camera, I absolutely adore it and I must say that it very rarely leaves my side.
Dear hubby and the kids got this for my Birthday a few years back.
Taking photos and storing them on the computer just seems so much easier these days than having to get film processed like the old days. This way if you take a crappy shot you can just delete it so much better than being stuck with a dud photo.

Keeping fingers crossed and a lot of positive thinking I know I can do this....
For the First Quarter I aim to complete........

My Xmas Tree skirt - All of the stitching is finished I just need to back, bind & quilt it.

a small quilt that needs to be backed and have the binding done.

A knee rug sized quilt that also needs to be Backed, bound and quilted.

 ("Holiday Inn"quilt by Jo Morton)

I need to finish needle turn appliqué, piecing, backing and binding of this

(Love Grows Here by The Chook Shed)

I have all of the pieces cut out for these delightful minis
they only need fronts, backs, boarders, backing and binding.

(Sean & Mickie Elf by Irene Harris)

This Elf is all cut out and stitched all I have to do is assemble stuff and embellish

I need to sew the head, hat, make booties and add embellishments to this Elf

(Strip Quilt by Tracee)

Not a bad plan for my first quarter.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone
may you all have a Happy Healthy & very productive and creative
2013
I can't wait to see what excitement and friendships the new year will bring.

Last night we spent celebrating the end of 2012 the best way possible.
Nothing beats Family, Friendship and quality food.
Along with a few glasses of fabulous wine.
The views of course were the icing on the cake.
